How to Increase your Organic Reach With These 5 Tips

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

Do all advertisements need to be paid for? The answer- no. Some businesses may not have the budget to pay for advertising, especially when they’re just starting out. What they can do is increase their organic reach, or engagement that isn’t boosted by payment.

Organic advertising is advertising without paying a platform to spread your message. Organic advertising relies on the content your company posts online or on social media to engage with customers. Getting lots of interactions with your organic posts can be hard, and maybe you’re already noticing that. Don’t get discouraged yet!

Here are five tips to help your business improve its organic reach:

1. Choose the right platform for your audience

Don’t stress about posting on every platform, instead pick one or two platforms to start with. Make sure these platforms are ones that your target audience use frequently, and ones that fit your image too. If one platform works better than another, keep using it and try out another platform too. When a platform works, it’s because you’ve reached your target audience. It’s all about trial and error.

2. Create meaningful content

You want to create content that your potential customers will want to see and interact with. Taking more time to focus on the quality of one post is better than creating several “just okay” posts. Quality over quantity is key.

3. Be personable and human

By showing that you care about your business and customers, you build a level of trust. Take the extra time to take part in discussions and respond to customers when they reach out.

4. A bigger following doesn’t always mean better- and here’s what we mean

A large following takes time and hard work to build. Don’t underestimate the power of a small following! If this small following is engaged with your content and are your ideal customers, that’s better than a large following. A large following likely consists of people who don’t actually know who you are, so they’re more apt to scroll past your posts.

5. Take advantage of email advertising

If your customers, or potential customers, signed up to hear from you, keep in touch with them! Send them useful information to keep them interested in your product or service. (Remember: don’t buy a list of contacts- that’s spammy and doesn’t look good)

Improving organic reach takes time, effort, and hard work. It’s not a quick process and it requires patience.
